Part numbering
Basic guidelines
- When you create a new part
in Pro/ENGINEER, use the part number as the part name. Do not add revision letters or product
codes to the part number--that information is tracked separately
by the system. When you save the part, the filename will consist
of your part number with a ".prt" suffix automatically
added by the system.
- If the part is to have a
family table, assign a descriptive name (such as storbot_base_plate)
to the generic part.
Assign part number names to instances in the family table.
- Before starting a new part,
use Pro/LOCATE to check commonspace for the part name you intend
to assign to your model.
This check prevents part and part number duplication.
