Starting new drawings

Drawing format

Before starting a new drawing, check out the drawing formats (Library folder in commonspace) to your workspace.

Mapkeys

Mapkeys are keyboard macros that increase productivity by eliminating repetitive keystrokes. Use the Start Part mapkey to set up the Pro/ENGINEER environment when beginning new drawings.

To start a new drawing:

  1. In the menu bar at the top of the window, click Mapkey > Start Part
  2. The New dialog box and Mapkey Paused dialog box will open
     
  3. Select Drawing
  4. Type the drawing name in the text box area of the New dialog box (do not click OK!)
  5. Click Resume on the Mapkey Paused dialog box
  6. Click OK in the New dialog box
  7. The New Drawing dialog box will open
  8. Set Optional Default Model to none
  9. Select Set Size
  10. Select Orientation (landscape)
  11. Select Standard Size from drop down list
  12. Click OK
  13. Click DRAWING > GET FORMAT in the Menu Manager
  14. The Open File dialog box will open
  15. Select your workspace from the drop down list or click the Work Table icon (caution: do not use System Formats, they will cause check in conflicts)
  16. Click Open
  17. Enter parameters in the text box at the bottom of the Pro/ENGINEER window
  18. The drawing is now set up to accept your general view and projected views
