Assembly numbering
Assembly numbering is similar to part
numbering
- When you create a new assembly
in Pro/ENGINEER, use the assembly number as the assembly name. Do not add revision numbers or product
codes to the assembly number--that information is tracked separately
by the system. When you save an assembly, the filename will consist
of your assembly number with an ".asm" suffix automatically
added by the system.
- If the assembly is to have
a family table, assign a descriptive name (such as vertical_drive)
to the generic assembly.
Assign assembly names to instances in the family table.
- Before starting a new assembly,
use Pro/LOCATE to check commonspace for the assembly name you
intend to assign to your model.
This check prevents assembly and assembly number duplication.
