Starting new assemblies

Mapkeys are keyboard macros that increase productivity by eliminating repetitive keystrokes. Use the Start Assembly mapkey to set up the Pro/ENGINEER environment when beginning new assemblies.

To start a new assembly:

  1. In the menu bar at the top of the window, click Mapkey > Start Assembly
  2. The New assembly dialog box and Mapkey Paused dialog box will open
     
  3. Type the assembly name in the text box area of the New assembly dialog box (do not click OK!)
  4. Click Resume on the Mapkey Paused dialog box
  5. Enter your initials in the text box at the bottom of the Pro/Engineer window
  6. Enter the date in the text box at the bottom of the window
  7. If the default planes are not visible click the display datum planes button on the tool bar
  8. Begin assembly with base component
